[ This was... a whole mess. Kohaku's pretty exhausted after trial - though his personal feelings were hardly affected, a few hours straight of people yelling just suck. He'll take a break for a snack, to recover his energy somewhat, and then he'll go find Cynthia.
Risen, huh...? At this point he hadn't expected anyone else to have experience with walking dead, so he's really curious. ]
[ Kohaku doesn't smile a whole lot, but this does get a sympathetic one. He'd taken it for granted for a long time that people understand his pain and now... ]
Tell me all about it. Even when you know how to defend yourself, it's not a good time.
[Her cheery demeanor, which has been a little forced, kind of fades more...]
I spent a lot of my childhood trying to fend them off, once I was old enough that I could. It... could’ve gone worse, I guess. Not everyone I knew died.
Yep, same here. I don't know how long it's been exactly, but it's definitely been all my life. The court probably keeps record of this stuff, but as if they'd ever release information to the public.... Hah.
Oh, wow, so someone’s trying to keep you from learning more about them? Well, that’s not right! I mean, if people knew the source and it wasn’t too late, you could stop it, right?
You'd think so. No idea how much knowledge they're hiding and just how much good it'd do us, but last I noticed some rich guys have been modifying the virus to make servant zombies, so I can't say I have any faith in the nobles.
...I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised if the weird apocalypse cult that summoned the evil dragon god and the Risen did something like that, but that’s just too opulent! I guess I could be okay with undead that didn’t hurt anyone, but I bet those people just have their zombie Risen servants attack anyone they don’t like.
[ There's a thumbs-up at the question about taking him out. They may not have reached the source of the modified virus yet, but this particular menace is gone. ]
Sounds like they weren't very good at that when people just ended up fighting the undead for decades.
[ Even Kohaku is speechless at that admission. It's not what he expected to hear and the suckiness of the news is just... not accurately expressed even by a flow of swearwords. ]
... so that's how it was.
[ Lame statement. ]
We've lost thousands upon thousands to the zombies and cities get destroyed on the regular, but it seems you got us beat in terms of carnage.
Well, we actually took care of it in the new world! Something that was needed to take the evil dragon god down for good... well, it got lost in my original world, but we managed to find it in the new one. So there's probably gonna be little pockets of Risen popping up around the place, but... it's definitely going to be a problem we can end.
[ This really feels like deja-vu. Exhausted from trial, eating a snack, going to find Cynthia to talk to her about some bullshit that is likely only relevant to their worlds.... Ah well. ]
Hey, Cynthia! This has been one fucked up day, huh?
I mean, if the wolf-thing leaves him upon death, he'll be fine. Probably. I don't know how this shit works, but even in my world you can briefly restore zombie souls.
There's a chance for him.
[ Kohaku doesn't care for the outcome here either way, but he can see why people find this relevant. ]
Well.. the ghosts don't seem like they've gone horribly wrong, right? And we're not in our original bodies anyway... and I asked the guy on the tablet, and he said we might be able to get new ones for the ghosts!
Week 1
Saturday - Post-Trial
Risen, huh...? At this point he hadn't expected anyone else to have experience with walking dead, so he's really curious. ]
Yo. Wanna have that zombie talk?

Well... it’s some pretty rough stuff, but I guess you know that too, huh?

My violin's always defended me, at least. Just me. I mean... could've gone worse here, too. The guy who raised me wasn't much of a father anyhow.
[ He gives a wide shrug. ]
So yours have been around for a real long time too?
no subject
...but yeah. I mean, they haven’t been around for centuries or anything, but... I pretty much never knew a world without ‘em.

Last we encountered someone like this, he was just murdering people to turn them into zombie dolls. Not actually an ethical practice.
The Risen were summoned then..?
no subject
[she fistpumps indignantly!]
Did you take him out, at least?
And yeah. More like a group that was trying to pretty much end the world.
no subject
Sounds like they weren't very good at that when people just ended up fighting the undead for decades.

[...it’s kind of hard to discuss, still, but may as well be honest!]
We ended up saving a world where things hadn’t gotten as bad, just not ours. Would’ve been nice if we coulda fixed everything, but them’s the breaks.

... so that's how it was.

[ That's the noise of sympathy. Cynthia's probably getting more of that from Kohaku than anyone else here did so far. ]
Are you still dealing with all that in the new world?

WEEK 2
Saturday - a bit post-trial again
Hey, Cynthia! This has been one fucked up day, huh?
no subject
Right? Man, poor Flat... I hope the fact that he got possessed doesn’t mean his ghost gets messed up.
no subject
There's a chance for him.
[ Kohaku doesn't care for the outcome here either way, but he can see why people find this relevant. ]

[ Kohaku actually looks relieved here. ]
This body shit is still weird as hell, but leaving Yoshi behind would have sucked, so... good news.
